I love Buddy Holly's music but I was very disappointed with the quality of this recording.

I'm reviewing the MP3 version of this collection. I downloaded it on a whim because it was on sale at a very low price, and I didn't know what to expect. I've never gotten around to buying any Buddy Holly music, so for me any collection is a good thing. But I've been terribly disappointed with the sound quality of several oldies reissues lately, so I held my breath when I started it up on my car stereo.

The song list is great on this album but 2 songs ,which are BIG ONES where left off of this collection and should not have been. WHERE IS "REMINISCING and CRYING WAITING HOPEING" ? There much bigger and more famous then a few of the other songs on this collection.BIG MISTAKE made by this record label. REALLY, FIX IT. These 2 songs are the only thing worth adding to a SINGLE HITS DISC that isn't allready here. If the cd's get longer in length THAN ADD THESE 2 songs, or just replace them with a few ... Read More

Non-stop catchy tunes from the foundation of popular rock n roll. What's not to like? If you weed out all of the reviews here by people who reviewed based on what they wished the album was instead of what it is, this would have a solid 5 star rating.

I've picked up just about every Buddy Holley (correct spelling on his tombstone in Lubbock, Texas, which I've visited) song released. I've done so by purchasing a number of releases. Probably the most comprehensive was the "Gold" collection, but it, too, didn't have everything. This has most of his hits, so if you want just his biggest hits, go for it, but you will be missing some real jewels that for one reason or another didn't get the airplay they deserved.
