The star evaluation is misleading because I'm commenting only on the PS3 controller, not on a game or the PS3 console. I love my PS3 but the controller leaves a lot to be desired. It really makes playing the games less enjoyable for me. This is the one area the 360 has the PS3 beat. The big problem is that there is too much leeway and looseness in the direction sticks, which I think are too long. Let me start by saying that mechanically, this is like any other DS3 and works great.
However, one thing I did notice is that the finish on this is slightly textured while the regular black dualshocks are smooth. I also have the Japanese spec white DS3 and it is smooth too.
I don't mind the textured finish and it actually helps when my hands get sweaty. But I figured I'd mention it.

this is the great paddle design and fits comfortably in the hands.
i am just going to mention a few cosmetic specific to the red paddle:
it is a great shade of red I am very pleased with it. One thing i did not like though is the LED port indicator (the 1 2 3 4 thing) it glows through the plastic housing unlike the black version and doesn't look too great.
overall it is a pretty cool paddle.

Overall, I would say this is a great controller. My only complaint is how it feels in your hands. It just isn't all that comfortable, not terrible, but not great either. I think the Xbox 360 and gamecube controllers feel much better in my hands. It would be nice if they could keep the controller basically the same, but make it a little more ergonomic.
